Oschersleben 2022

2022-18-19-06 IDC Racing Oschersleben – Success in tropical heat

On June 18 and 19, the first races of the International Dutch Championship were on the program for us at the Oschersleben circuit. Mark van Bunnik (Fastmarky#77) and Greg Barnes (Gin-Tonic#67, this weekend with #167), Luc van Gerven (The Bomb#36) and Henk van Asselt (Eagle#68) participated for Docshop Racing in this races in the Proclass600. With tropical temperatures above 30 degrees, just like last year, it would again be a strenuous and tough weekend.

Friday there was a free practice and the 1st qualifying. The second qualifying session was held on Saturday and the first race was held at the end of the day. During qualifying, our drivers were in the front. Ultimately it resulted in a P1, P4, P5 and P10 in the Proclass 600. In the combined grid of the Supersport and Proclass 600 this resulted in the starting positions P16, P24, P25 and P33 for the races.

Race 1
With temperatures above 30 degrees, Greg Barnes had another good start and was followed directly into the first corner by Mark van Bunnik. Luc van Gerven followed in a number of places and Henk van Asselt was able to hold his position well. It was a tough race with these temperatures, but Greg Barnes was able to win the race in the Proclass600 by 6 seconds on the number 2. Luc van Gerven and Mark van Bunnik battled for the last podium place until the end of the race, with Luc on the P3 position with a 0.6 seconds lead. A particularly good performance, as this was his first race on his new TKR R6. Henk van Asselt rode consistent lap times and finished the race in P10, a great achievement under the circumstances and in this strong field.

Race 2
On Sunday morning, shortly before noon, temperatures had already risen above 30 degrees again. So it would be another very tough race. Henk van Asselt took the wise decision to cancel the race. Mark van Bunnik had little energy due to a cold and had little sleep, but started anyway. Greg Barnes had a slightly poor start this time, but was eventually able to win the race in the Proclass 600 with 18 seconds ahead of #2! Luc van Gerven passed Mark van Bunnik after 1 lap and rode away from him. Unfortunately Luc was unable to match his good lap times from Race 1 and finished the race in P5. Mark van Bunnik rode consistent times and eventually finished in P7.

With 2 x a P1 and a P3 during the 2 races, it was a successful weekend 🏆 🏆 🏆
